Rattlesnake Season

We had a lovely spring – dry and not too hot. However, things are finally heating up here in Tucson. The Monsoon starts on June 15, but there is little sign of rain to come. The forest fires are still raging across the state, but we are lucky not to have been affected here. Mt. Lemmon has been closed for all hiking, but the road is still open up to Summerhaven. Tim took the opportunity to ride his bike all the way to the top on Saturday (25 miles uphill!). He said there was very little traffic except for police cars and fire trucks all on the look out for any signs of trouble.

You have to get up and get going early in this heat. We went for a walk this morning and saw a rattlesnake. It was stretched out on the side of the road soaking up the warmth from the asphalt. Good thing I have prescription sunglasses and noticed it!
